Miss K on being sick and hospitals

Ramblings of Miss K

After being sick for about 2 weeks and being on antibiotics and nothing the DR gave me wasn’t helping my mommy decided it was time we went to the ER. When we arrived at the ER I was quiet and mommy said I was not my normal self. The DR asked my mommy lots and lots of questions about the medicines I had been given and what I had eaten and also if I my shots where up to date or not. The DR sent me for x-rays to check my chest and the lady at the X-ray place asked my mom to put me on the time and hold my legs tight together, I started crying very loud as I didn’t want to be there and the x-ray lady couldn’t get the right picture so my mommy begged me to keep still and we tried again but still I cried, I was frightened by what was happening. We took the x-rays back to the DR who decided it was time they admitted me as I had a chest infection.

We went up to the peadiatric ward and my mommy filled in some papers and the nurses came and took me away and they said my mommy couldn’t come with me as they where going to insert my drip. After I came back I fell asleep on my mommy as I didn’t want to sleep in the hospital bed. The nurses woke us up at 5 am everyday and my mommy never complained once :-) My DR came to see me and told my mom I might have asthma and asked if anyone in the family has asthma and my mommy told them my uncle had asthma. The DR told my mommy not to worry as we should be able to keep the asthma controlled. I am not sure what it means to have asthma maybe my mommy will explain later when I am older.

We spent four nights in hospital and finally the doctor said we could go home and come back after  2 weeks for a check up.

My mommy spent her birthday with me in hospital and she says the best present she received was being told we could go home and I was all better :-) Happy belated birthday my mommy
