I am a Toddler

My cousin sent me this poem which I thought is so true. Pity I could not find the author to credit them, if anyone does know who wrote the poem please let me know

“I am a Toddler!”

If it’s on, I must turn it off.
If it’s off, I must turn it on.
If it’s folded, I must unfold it.
If it’s high, it must be reached.
If it’s shelved, it must be unshelved.
If it’s pointed, it must be run with at top speed.
If it has leaves, they must be picked.
If it’s plugged, it must be unplugged.
If it’s not trash, it must be thrown away.
If it’s in the trash, it must be removed, inspected, and thrown on the floor. If it’s closed, it must be opened.
If it doesn’t open, it must be screamed at.
If it has drawers, they must be rifled.
If it’s a pencil, it must write on the refrigerator, computer monitor, or table. If it’s full, it will be more interesting emptied.
If it’s empty, it will be more interesting full.
If it’s a pile of dirt, it must be laid upon.
If it’s a stroller, it must under no circumstances be ridden in without protest. It must be pushed by me instead. If it has a flat surface, it must be banged upon.
If mommy’s hands are full, I must be carried.
If mommy is in a hurry and wants to carry me, I must walk alone.
If it’s paper, it must be torn.
If it has buttons, they must be pressed.
If the volume is low, it must go high.
If it’s toilet paper, it must be unrolled on the floor.
If it’s a drawer, it must be pulled upon.
If it’s YOUR toothbrush, it must be inserted into my mouth.
If it’s MY toothbrush, it must be inserted into YOUR mouth.
If it has a faucet, it must be turned on at full force.
If it’s a phone, I must talk into it.
If it’s a bug, it must be swallowed.
If it doesn’t stay on my spoon, it must be dropped on the floor.
If it’s not food, it must be tasted.
If it’s food, it must NOT be tasted.
If it’s dry, it must be made wet with drool, milk, or toilet water.
If it has a tail, I must yank it.
If Mommy wants me to come, I must run away.
If Mommy wants me to go away, I must CLING ON FOR DEAR LIFE!
If it’s stacked up, it must be knocked down.
If it’s sticky, it must go in my hair.
If it’s bath time, I must run around naked till I am caught!
If it is a rock, it must be picked up.
If it is a doll, it must not wear clothes.
If it is Mommy or Daddy, it must be hugged.
I am a Toddler!
Live life, laugh from within and capture every moment!

How to Find the Right Party Venue for Your Child’s Party

How to Find the Right Party Venue for Your Child’s Party

Birthday parties are an opportunity for you to show your little ones how much they are loved. If you’re a busy parent, like most parents these days, you probably don’t always set aside enough time to show your children how much you truly care for them and appreciate having them in your life. Sure, you’re sweet to them, help them with their homework, and buy them toys and books to reward their good behavior. But when do you dedicate a whole day for each of your children? Probably only on the days of their birthday parties.

One of the most important things you have to do to ensure your children have fun birthday parties is to pick the right party venue. Here are a few things you can do to find the perfect party venue for each of your children’s birthday parties:

Consider your child’s age

An ice skating rink may not be the best party venue for your two-year-old. A venue with an indoor toddler playground, however, could be a perfect choice. Kids between the ages of 5 and 10 love indoor moon bounce venues. If there’s one in your area, you should consider checking it out.

Ask for your child’s opinion

Your child will be able to tell you what kind of party centers he or she likes. Toddlers may not be able to provide you with too much guidance, but older children will have quite a few opinions about what type of birthday party they would like.

Consider price

Price might be a concern for you when you’re planning your child’s party. Some venues will cost less than others, but that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice. Be sure to call around to find the best price. You may save some money throwing the party at a laser tag venue as opposed to throwing it at an indoor moon bounce venue, for instance. Your child’s first choice for a venue may be the most expensive option, but he will probably settle for his second choice, especially if you promise extra delicious birthday cake.

Think about safety

Your child may beg you to host the party at a venue that allows for rock climbing. Depending on your child’s age, this type of venue may not be an appropriate choice because of safety concerns. You don’t want your child or any of the party guests to get injured. If you have any qualms about the potential safety of a venue, it may be best to explore your other options.

With a little effort, you’ll find the perfect party center or venue for each of your children’s birthday parties!

Afternoon Ramblings – Kamva’s Party

So I can finally relax again because we have found a party venue :-) <insert a happy face here> We (Miss K, daddy and me) went to look at the place yesterday afternoon and its perfect. It has jungle gyms, swings, slides, grass, shade for if it rains and a bike track for the scooters.

What I love about the venue is its got options for rainy weather too and so much for the kids to do. Miss K was impressed and cried a bit when we left :-)

The theme is still Elmo and everything will be done by the party planner at the venue, all we bring is the cake and snacks. I now need to figure out what finger foods to bring for the parents who will be coming. Anyone got any suggestions to feed them? Also what to feed the children, I know they normally waste food so I am looking for easy to make food that is child friendly.

I will be sending out invitations next week :-)

I can’t believe my little girl will be 2 in 4 weeks time! I am not sure where the time has went but this has been an amazing 2 years, yes it had its up and downs but it has been great having this angel in my life!!

This and That

I’ve had a writers block ok maybe not a block but I have been feeling so down in the dumps I didn’t want to blog as my mood would have shown. I woke up feeling a tad bit better this morning and its true when they say this too shall pass.

We had a good weekend, we went to visit Talya as she had a carter and cup cake day. Talya sells Carter baby grows, which I must add are super cute and warm. They have non slip feet so no worrying about slips and falls. If you want one you can find Talya on twitter here. But be quick she is emigrating end of April.

Miss k in one of her Carter Baby grows :-)

When we arrived Talya put out iced cupcakes that the children had to decorate with smarties and jelly tots. Talya’s youngest son Jessie kept ‘stealing’ sweets and stuffing them in his mouth :-) He is so adorable and smart. For an 18 month old he talks so well and clear.

Jessie

Kamva was impressed with the toys, she wanted to play with everyhing. She even made herself at home by taking an ice lolly out of Talya’s fridge :-)

Miss K and Joshi

It was a great day and it was nice to finally meet Talya. :-)

Sunday spent the day at home and I even got to nap which was something I needed. AND it my seen I have been bitten by the Glee bug, now call me delayed if you want but I am not really into watching tv and following all the series but I started watching Glee on Sunday and I am hooked, I can’t wait to finish it :-)

In other news

Been dreaming alot about Elmo and its beginning to drive me insane :-) I will have to start blogging more about the party preparations to get all my Elmo thoughts out. With that said I can’t believe that next month Miss K will be two.

Elmo

P.S Miss K counted to 10 for me last night with no mistakes. To say I am proud would be an understatement

I died of Shame – something to make you laugh

I got this email this morning and it made me laugh :-)

Annie, 6 years old, gets home from school. She had her first family planning lesson at school.

Her mother, very interested, asks;” How did it go?”

“I died of shame!” She answers !

Koos from over the road, says that the stork brings babies.
Sally next door said you can buy babies at the orphanage.
Piet in my class says you can buy babies at the hospital.

Her mother answers laughingly “But that’s no reason to be ashamed?”

“No, but I can’t tell them that we were so poor that daddy had to make me himself!”

Where Are The Fathers?

I have a favourite song and thought I would share it today :-)

I have put the lyrics too for those who can’t listen.  Enjoy

Song is ‘Where Are the fathers’ by Israel Houghton

I finally got into the hotel room, it must have been mid day
Started flipping through the channels, just to kind of drift away
Every other network, show the challenged and abused
And sea of people laughing as the children sat confused

And I saw a mother pleading, with her son to turn away
From the lifestyle he had chosen, full of violence and hate
As the conversation heated, my mind began to race
Somebody’s missing, something’s badly out of place

Chorus
Where are the fathers, the responsible ones
Where are the fathers, have they helped to raise their sons
Look at the daughters, do you see the violation
Do you need more demonstration
Are you really even bothered
Tell me where, where are the fathers

Well then I went downstairs to visit with a friend of many years
And in just a few short seconds, he exploded into tears
Slowly he unraveled, a lifetime packed with pain
I asked him for specifics, He attempted to explain

He said his wife and children says he’s out of control
And it’s adding to the growing scars fully branded on his soul
Suddenly I asked him, about the conflict with his dad
And he didn’t have to say a word, His troubled face just said

Chorus
Where are the fathers, the responsible ones
Where are the fathers, have they helped to raise their sons
Look at the daughters, do you see the violation
Do you need more demonstration
Are you really even bothered
Tell me where, where are the fathers

Somebody tell me, I want to know
Got to know…. Ooooo

An now I standing in your presence, you compassion is so strong
And I’ve wondered how I’ve managed, without you for so long
All I’ve ever needed, Is right here in your watch
Oh daddy I’m so grateful, here my heart inside this song

You are the father, the responsible one
You are the father, and I’m so glad to be your son
Now I have daughters, and everyday’s a celebration
They are free of violation
All because you took the time to bother
All because you took the time to bother
All because you gave you life to bother
I’m so glad, glad you are my father

Love of love

Love is . . .

“Love is patient, love is kind, and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, “

–Paul in The Holy Bible, I Corinthians 13:4-7

P.S Happy Valentines day :-)

Happiness Is …

Happiness is Miss K coming home from school happy and playful.  The teachers say she has adjusted to the new surroundings and fits into the class well. One more good thing is she no longer drinks 3 bottles of milk during the day :-)  All her bottles come back still full.

My little girl is now a big girl
